Simple yet irresistible: Brewing coffee in a French Press
Autor: Franck d.d.
The French press stands out as a hidden gem among coffee brewing methods. Here's our concise guide on preparing the perfect cup of coffee using a French press without any fuss.
Before you begin, ensure you have all the essentials: freshly ground coffee, hot water, a French press glass container, and a metal spoon.
Tips for the perfect cup of french press coffee:
- The coffee-to-water ratio is crucial. For an average French press yielding two cups, it's recommended to use 20 to 25 grams of coffee.
- The choice of coffee grind is also vital. Opt for a medium to coarse grind to prevent sediment from passing through the filter.
- Quality water matters. Use filtered water to avoid impurities that might compromise the coffee's flavor.
- Maintain the water temperature between 90°C to 95°C. Test it by letting boiled water rest for 30 seconds to a minute before using.
How to prepare French Press coffee in five steps:
- Add the appropriate amount of freshly ground coffee to the French press.
- Pour a small amount of hot water over the coffee and allow it to sit for a minute to release CO2.
- After a minute, pour the remaining hot water over the coffee in the French press and gently stir.
- Cover the French press and let the coffee steep for 3-4 minutes.
- Slowly press the plunger to the bottom of the French press to separate the sediment from the beverage, then immediately pour the coffee into cups.
